Mets 2-1 Cubs
Tonight we got exactly what we were expecting: a pitching duel between two of the NL's top aces. Syndergaard tossed 5 and 1/3 innings of one (unearned) run baseball while Arrieta went 7 while also allowing a lone run. The difference maker here was the Mets bullpen outperforming that of the Cubs. It was the Cubs dominant closer, Hector Rondon, who got charged with the loss after backup catcher Rene Rivera singled in Neil Walker in the top of the 9th.
