Yesterday we went 2-1 with our picks. Let's take a look at what went right and what went wrong.
Mets at Cubs Under 7 (-110)
(Mets 1- Cubs 5)
Aside from a 3 run shot by Adam Rizzo in the bottom of the third, this game is exactly what we thought it would be: a pitching duel. Lester put together 7 and 2/3 of dominance while Matz showed an ability to work himself out of trouble time after time.
Marlins (-210) at Phillies
(Marlins 3- Phillies 2)
Here was our first of two extra innings games yesterday where both pitchers put on a show. Aaron Nola snapped back into form by throwing 6 innings of 2 hit baseball while Jose Fernandez showcased nasty pitch after nasty pitch on his way to totally 14 k's in 6 and 1/3 innings.
White Sox (-150) at Mariners
(White Sox 3- Mariners 4)
And now onto the second extra inning game that quite frankly ruined my night a little bit. Sale was everything I thought he'd be and more allowing just 1 hit over 8 innings of work. Clearly the slumping Mariners weren't going to overcome a 3 run lead in the bottom of the 9th with 2 out right? Whether the fans had their rally caps on or not, the former Yankee David Robertson proved why moving on from him in favor of "No Runs DMC" was the right move, allowing an RBI single alongside a 3 run walkoff homerun by pinch hitting Adam Lind.
